With everything getting portable these days, the applications which we use on daily basis are not very far behind. Portable Applications are getting very common these days because of their ease of use. Just double click the application and it runs ! no need to run through an installation process.
These applications are generally carried on portable storage devices such as CD-Rom’s, USB flash drives, flash cards, or even floppy disks. The applications cannot be run of different operating system (OS)platforms. For E.g. a windows applications will only run on a windows system and not on a linux or MAC OS.
With the change in times the popularity of such softwares is increasing day-by-day, software companies are distributing portable applications to its users these days. Computer users these days can or rather have the option of keeping their Os as clean as possible. I personally think portable applications make life easier for the end users.
There are websites which host only downloadable portable applications, major search engines list such popular websites. You can try to download a portable version of your most used application and check the it out yourself. However, not applications cn be made portable so don’t be disappointed if you are not able to find your app in the list.
